What is Crisis Prevention Training?
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) is a training program designed to equip individuals with the skills and techniques necessary to prevent and manage disruptive or violent behavior in various settings, such as schools, healthcare, and social services. CPI focuses on non-violent de-escalation strategies to prevent crises before they occur, emphasizing communication, rapport-building, and empathy. The program teaches professionals to recognize early warning signs of distress, use calm verbal interventions, and apply safe physical management techniques when necessary. Ultimately, the goal of CPI is to promote safety, minimize harm, and ensure respectful, compassionate care while maintaining a proactive approach to crisis situations.
